A unique cycling adventure that combines game viewing
and biking through villages and landscape to give you an alternative
view of Tanzania. Explore the foothills and see the village life
of Mount Kilimanjaro from your saddle.
Day 1: Arrive Kilimanjaro International or Nairobi
Airport, where you will be met by Tanzania Journeys representative
and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Evening welcome meal to
get to know your fellow group members and pre-trek briefing.
Day 2: Start at 9:00 from Moshi. Load bikes onto
jeeps and drive to Karatu (near Ngorongoro Conservation Area). Arrive
in Karatu at 2:30. After relaxation prepare bikes for evening biking.
At 4:00 start biking to Loduare Gate passing through villages and
drive back to the campsite. Dinner and overnight at Bushman Campsite.
Day 3: After breakfast you will be taken in a 4 wheel
drive to tour Ngorongoro Crater, where you may view elephants, hippos,
zebra, lions, rhinos and wildebeest amongst thousands of game animals
living in a magnificent geological setting. Evening return to Bushman
Campsite for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Early morning start biking from Karatu to
Mto Wa Mbu (A village which lies close to Lake Manyara) via the
escapement of the Rift Valley stop at the view point of Lake Manyara
National Park. Stop at Jambo Campsite for hot lunch then proceed
to Makuyuni town. Load the bikes in the jeep then drive to Arusha
for dinner and overnight camp.
Day 5: Breakfast bike through Arusha. Tour heads
onto Moshi road arriving at Oikolili Secondary School for dinner
and overnight camp.
Day 6: After breakfast, load up the bikes and drive
to Sanya Juu town. 8km past the town start biking through wheat
plantation to the verdant forest of Mount Kilimanjaro and onto Simba
Farm for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Breakfast at 7:00 then bike from Simba Farm
to Lerang’wa Primary School for lunch. After lunch, optional
biking in hills surrounding the camp. Dinner and Overnight at Lerang’wa
Primary School.
Day 8: Biking starts from the camp, heading towards
Tarakea, which is in Rombo District passing by the lush forest of
Mount Kilimanjaro. Views of the Western side of the mountain will
be seen on route. Participants will have lunch on route before reaching
the camp in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Tarakea Police
Station.
Day 9: This is the longest day in the saddle. Begin
biking from Tarakea through several small towns heading to Marangu
village with lunch on route. Dinner and overnight at Marangu, which
has an alpine feel with abundant vegetation and mountain streams.
Day 10: Bike up to Marangu Gate, the starting point
for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Take time to appreciate the beautiful
scenery of the banana plantations. Bike down towards Moshi town
arriving at Sambarai Primary School for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Bike north through Umbwe area towards Mweka
Wildlife College then South to Moshi town to the hotel. Final evening
meal together to celebrate end of biking trek.
Day 12: Morning departure for those catching Nairobi
flight, afternoon departure for those flying from Kilimanjaro International
Airport. Onward journey for those heading on Safari or to Zanzibar.
Includes:
2 nights B&B hotel accommodation good tourist standard hotels,
based on 2 sharing a twin room and 2 evening meals, before and after
the climb
9 nights camping (2 sharing a tent) including all food, water, provision
of sleeping and mess tents and 10 days biking including support
vehicles
Return airport transfers from Kilimanjaro International or Nairobi

etc
Provision of Mountain bike (clients should bring their own including
