Mt Ol Doinyo Lengai

Description

Every seven years Lengai erupts and plumes of smoke billow out of the crater. Mount Ol doinyo Lengai. It is possible to walk across the crater floor. The ascent of Oldoinyo Lengai is demanding on account of the day time heat, lack of water, steep and unsuitable slopes of ash and crumbly rocks and considerable height gain.

Meaning "Mountain of God" in Maasai, this active volcano is the right fit for those up for a much more challenging adventure.

This trek compliments a visit to the beautiful Lake Natron region known for it's mass populations of flamingo.  After your hard work you will be rewarded with relaxation in an oasis of a birder's paradise.

While the trek can be done in a single day it is far more steep with loose volcanic ash and sand and only recommended for highly experienced trekkers with great physical endurance.
